Outstanding work for schools, colleges, local authorities and other organisations has firmly established Hazelmere’s reputation as one of the region’s leading suppliers of premium architectural aluminium – and now, the firm has expanded its impressive list of completed developments by expertly renovating the civic offices of Epping Forest District Council.
The first phase of renovation saw Hazlemere complete a £200k contract replacing the existing windows of the council’s Conder Building with thermally efficient, thermally broken alternatives. First, the High Wycombe firm designed and manufactured a bespoke steel framework to properly accommodate the new products. The firm then supplied and fitted a large number of white-coated, top-hung Sapa Dualframe 75mm casement windows with Kingspan cladding, chosen for their superb durability, acoustic and thermal performance.
The council was so delighted with the professional job done by Hazlemere Commercial, that they enlisted them to complete a second-phase of renovation on the main civic office building worth £300k plus VAT. Hazlemere replaced the existing windows and manufactured and installed replacement aluminium windows using Sapa’s Dualframe 75SI casement coloured windows and their Tilt and Turn windows. They also fitted Fire Rated Commercial Entrance Doors and completed the refresh with a double glazed aluminium roof lantern.
A large majority of the existing windows also featured traditional blind boxes which when removed left larger than usual structural openings. Hazlemere Commercial carefully filled all the voids and added matching RAL coloured aluminium pressings.
“Over years of experience working on complex local authority jobs, we’ve learned how we can do exceptional work without disturbing everyday operations – and we want to thank everyone employed at Epping Forest District Council for their help and co-operation,” commented Tony Beale, Hazlemere Commercial’s Sales Director.
“This job posed a unique challenge where we had to scaffold around an underpass for vehicle access which was in constant use throughout the duration of the project. We had to be versatile to meet challenges like this and to avoid disturbances across the whole council’s operations.”
“We’re delighted by how the project turned out, and, more importantly, so are they. To be asked to come back and complete another project for the council shows the trust local authorities and commercial organisations have in us to complete even the most complex of projects. It also highlights our strong reputation for disturbance-free, seamless operations, allowing councils like Epping to continue to operate unaffected. We look forward to collaborating with the Council again on other projects in the future.”
