Stunning effects can be achieved with powder coated rain screen cladding, as the bold new £12.5 million lifestyle centre for Northwich demonstrates. AFA Member Powdertech (Corby) Ltd is delighted to have been the powder coater selected for the external facade of Northwich Memorial Court, an exciting new leisure and entertainment hub within the town centre. The specification demanded a 25 year guarantee. Powdertech use high performance, quality pre-treatment & powder coating material that meet this level of specification.
“The design for the aluminium rain screen cladding is key to the look and feel of the building” said Richard Besant, “A number of different colour variations were considered before the client selected an Axalta powder, RAL 6034 with 30% gloss level. The panels are set at angles on the building, with varying projection distances that creates an impressive effect.”
Coordinating the coating and delivery of different batches of panels, 5000sq metres in total, was a key part of the project. “We coated many batches of panels of varying sizes and colour consistency between batches was essential” explained Richard. “With powder coating one can be confident in colour consistency.”
Set alongside the River Dane the Centre includes a 25m swimming pool, a gym and spa, theatre and conference centre, cafes and bars. Enhancing the overall design with a long lasting powder coated finish creates a unique and memorable impact.
