With the country having experienced such an extremely torrid time over the past year, many of us will have felt huge relief that following last week’s Roadmap to Recovery announcement, a resumption of something akin to normal life is now in sight. And for the double glazing industry that means ‘getting together’ again.

With the FIT Show set for late September, another industry favourite – the Glazing Summit – has seen a ‘surge of excitement’ for its annual October event. Despite the restrictions being lifted, the organisers say they will ensure the event takes place in a safe environment, so numbers will be restricted. The Glazing Summit Conference takes place at Edgbaston Stadium and Conference Centre, Birmingham.

In today’s newscast the GGF says it welcomes the Governments’ recent unveiling of their roadmaps to recovery, but remains cautious after many false starts to the recovery over the past year. From the Governments’ information, the GGF has put together a summary of “best case scenarios” for companies in the Glass and Glazing Industry across the four nations of the UK and also the Republic of Ireland.

In other news, Emplas has announced a significant ramping-up of its trade offer with the launch of a new aluminium window and door range; the Glazerite UK Group Ltd has announced a series of investments designed to ‘leverage growth potential for those installer partners looking to stake their claim’; an independent survey of UK homeowners, commissioned by Deceuninck, suggests that colour and finish are key factors in determining their purchasing decisions; and Total Hardware has launched its Superior 25 Stainless Steel range of door hardware.
