A new Emmegi Phantomatic M3 machining centre is helping specialist fabricator Elite Conservatories deliver an impressive triple whammy of benefits to its trade customers. Lower prices, better quality and shorter lead times are all now part of the package from the Tamworth based company.
Elite Conservatories has been successfully making bi-fold doors in Smart’s Visifold 2000 profile for the last seven years and had previously relied largely on a hand router for most of the machining tasks.
Now though, with its investment in a new Phantomatic M3 machine, it has transformed its production and is achieving consistently improved quality and higher volumes. Lead times on the bi-fold doors have been reduced from 15 working days to just 10 and, as a result of the efficiency improvements it is seeing, it has been able to pass on price savings to its customers.
Director Phil Warner said: “We’re always looking to improve the quality and service we deliver to customers and this new machine is a key part of that. It is making us quicker and more efficient and, by automating so many of the machining processes, it’s also giving us the potential to expand to keep pace with demand without having to invest in recruiting and training more staff.”
The Emmegi Phantomatic M3 is a 3+1 controlled axes machine which allows processing on three sides of the workpiece without the need to reposition. It is designed for machining aluminium profiles with up to eight automatically changed tool positions.
It features a pneumatic stop at the left side of the machine with four clamps positioned by the slider on the X axis, and it comes with the option of a second stop on the right side to almost double the work capacity if required.
A moveable work plane makes loading and unloading of the profiles easy and also extends the length of section which can be machined.
Elite Conservatories reviewed several machine options before selecting the Phantomatic M3 but chose the Emmegi machine because they were impressed with the specification and quality.
Phil Warner added: “Emmegi enjoys an excellent reputation for quality and service and the team there were really helpful in advising us that the Phantomatic M3 had all the functionality we required. We were particularly impressed with the fact that the machine effectively future proofs our operation, giving us the opportunity to increase volumes still further as we expand.”
