Emplas Introduces ‘After-Installation Fit’ Cill On AluK F82 Luminia Aluminium Bi-fold

Emplas is launching a new clip-on cill option on its F82 Aluminium Bi-folding Door, eliminating the risk of damage during installation and while other trades are still on site.

Developed in partnership with AluK, the highly innovative solution delivers significant benefits in new build but also home improvement installs and is available in four options: 95mm, 150mm, 190mm and 225mm.

“It’s simple but it’s genius”, said John Leary, Sales and Marketing Director, Emplas. “Cills can easily be damaged or scratch during installation, so fitting it after the door has gone in, or after other trades have finished on site if it’s a new build or extension, is simple logic.

“That’s important as the volume of aluminium bi-folds going into new build increases.

“Being able to fit cills after plumber, electricians, plasterers and renders or scaffolders have left the site is a massive advantage, as is the flexibility to remove a cill if damaged without having to take out the complete door”, he adds.

Emplas launched AluK’s contemporary F82 Luminia aluminium bi-folding door in May last year [2019].

As a premium bi-folding door offer, it delivers significantly enhanced performance and aesthetics and with it, opportunities to tap into higher margin sales.

Critically, this includes class leading thermal performance with U-Values of 1.4W/m²K with a double-glazed unit and as low as 0.9W/m²K when triple glazed.

Capable of spanning larger expanses, while maximising glazed area and with symmetrical sightlines on the frame, it’s also fully tested to PAS24 and Part Q, making it ideally suited to higher end new build installations.

It also features symmetrical sightlines on the frame, cill and jamb of only 97mm and only 122mm on the door meeting; a contemporary flush traffic door handle; in addition to AluK’s patented flush ‘T’ handle.

In addition to style, Luminia also delivers on substance, with a maximum individual leaf width of 1200mm. Heavy duty rollers deliver effortlessly smooth operation, while sashes accommodate individual sash weights of 150kg.

“We’ve seen substantial growth in volume since we started manufacturing Luminia last year. That’s been driven by demand in home improvement but also a growing number of new build installs. With SBD, Part Q approved and with u-values down to 1.4W/m²K – it lends itself to newbuild.

“In that environment, the ability to fit or replace cills after install is a massive advantage.”
