GGF Raises The Bar For H&S With Industry First IOSH Approved Training Course


The Glass and Glazing Federation’s (GGF) Training Academy has underlined its commitment to improving health & safety (H&S) standards with the introduction of an industry specific training course that has been developed in collaboration with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

IOSH is an internationally recognised body that is responsible for setting national standards, advising government and facilitating H&S training in 130 countries.

Emplas Builds Capacity With Two New Cutting And Machining Centres


Emplas has continued its multi-million-pound investment in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with the addition of two new Stuga ZX5 automated sawing and machining centres.

Installed in its main manufacturing facility, the two next generation cutting and machining centres bring new precision to window and door manufacture, while also significantly increasing capacity, says the company.

This includes up to 800 windows each per week , building on the cutting and machining capability of Emplas’ pre-existing machining and sawing centres.

Raft Of New Hires And Promotions At Precision Manufacturer Cube Glass


Precision manufacturer Cube Glass has made a series of new hirings and promotions as it continues a sustained period of growth.

The Cumbernauld-based company, which manufactures and installs aluminium doors and windows, has hired Gary Stevenson as its new project manager and Craig Bennett as commercial manager. In addition, Trevor Clark has been promoted to operations manager.

Cameron Gunn, Chris Farrington and Lee Manning, Partners at ReSolve, were appointed as joint administrators of Everest 2020 Limited (“Everest” or the “Company”) on 24 April 2024.

Staff Training Success Is A Big Win For Window Ware Sales And Customer Service Team


It was graduation day earlier this month at hardware provider, Window Ware, as its nine-strong internal sales and customer service team all passed their silver level product training program with flying colours! 

The in-house training scheme is all part of Window Ware’s ongoing mission to create a positive customer experience at every level, right from the very first enquiry through to after-sales support and beyond.

The course is structured into three levels: bronze, silver, and gold, and is designed and delivered by Window Ware’s product and technical manager of 18 years, Rob Vaughan.


ADSA Launches New Podcast


It’s good to talk! So says the Automatic Door Suppliers Association which has just launched its own podcast – Tech Talk.

The series will feature conversations on topical issues facing the industry and interviews with those who work in it.

The first episode focuses on changes to BS EN 16 005 – a standard that defines safety in use and test methods requirements for power operated pedestrian door sets. It teases out the main changes of the update and responsibilities that fall upon manufacturers and technicians. 


Epwin Window Systems Duo Shines In London Marathon


On 21 April 2024, Epwin Window Systems’ commercial director Ray McGrady and customer service advisor Tony Lloyd took on the iconic London Marathon course to raise funds for charities close to their hearts.

Ray McGrady said: “It was incredible to be able to join 53,000 runners on the start line. The crowds along the route were amazing and crossing the finish line was a special moment I’ll always remember. It was a privilege to run the event to raise funds for British Heart Foundation. Without their amazing work, my dad wouldn’t be with us today.”

Value Sales In The First Two Months Were -3.4% Down On Jan-Feb 2023.Volume Was -5.5% With Prices Up +2.2%

The latest Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI) report, published in April, shows builders’ merchants’ value sales were down -4.7% in February compared to the same month a year ago. Volume sales dropped -7.5%, while prices increased +3.1%. With an extra trading day this year, like-for-like sales were down -9.2%.
