UKAS Accreditation Means Mila Test Centre Is Now A One Stop Shop
 

Mila’s Test Centre in Daventry has just been awarded UKAS accreditation, allowing it to formally assess window and door hardware to both PAS24 2016 for security and BS EN1670 2007 for corrosion resistance.

This is the culmination of many months of hard work by the specialist Mila team behind the Test Centre, where the focus is exclusively on testing of windows and doors. It has centred around the fine calibration of equipment and the formalisation of procedures to meet the strict UKAS audit requirements.

Chancellor Must Improve Access To Finance For Small Builders
 

The Chancellor must take bold action in the forthcoming Budget to improve access to finance for SME builders if he wants to tackle the housing crisis, according to the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).

Calls For ‘Forgotten Professionals’ To Be Bought Back In To The Construction Process
 

In a series of 12 recommendations submitted to the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety, the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) has called for the recognition of the ‘forgotten professionals’ in the construction supply chain.

The re-introduction of the Clerk of Works role on site and compulsory use of a fully qualified architectural ironmonger are just two of the recommendations put forward by the Guild to the enquiry, led by Dame Judith Hackitt.

Lumi Door’s A Family Favourite For Designer Paul

 

It was an obvious choice for Apeer R&D engineer Paul Vajda to have one of the doors he helped to design for his own home near the company’s Ballymena factory recently. So it was just as natural, when his father-in-law wanted a new front door, that Paul would recommend the company’s radical Lumi system.

The result, a striking combination of Lumi composite door with two full-height glazed sidelights in Chartwell Green exterior, with Winchester foil inside to complement the oak flooring, was obviously well-received as the customer is now looking to order matching Lumi windows.
