New Leadership And BGF Investment At Victorian Sliders Signals New Era


Following its original investment in August 2021, BGF – one of the biggest and most experienced investors in the UK and Ireland – has provided an additional round of funding alongside HSBC to support the growth plans of manufacturing business Victorian Sliders.

As a result of the transaction, Scot Starkey will pursue other ventures and will no longer be involved in the business.

Group managing director Steve Winslet has been joined by an experienced team to help build on Victorian Sliders’ proposition.


The Future Starts Today


As this interview with Ian Cocken – aluplast’s director of sales and marketing – takes place, a handful of high-profile large fabricators have either called in the administrators, or are rumoured to be struggling.

It also coincides with news from the Office for National Statistics that insolvencies (across the board) are at their highest since the financial crisis of 2009, which underlines the concern that volume in the window and door industry is down.

“We’ve heard anecdotally that leads have been reducing in number for about the last year,” Cocken says.

Paul Greenaway Back On The Team At AluK


Paul Greenaway, an experienced figure in the industry, has rejoined AluK as an area sales manager, teaming up once again with managing director Russell Yates.

He will be looking after customers in east and southeast England, helping them make the most of current market opportunities and providing access to AluK’s extensive training, marketing and technical support.

Paul says he’s delighted to be back and to be part of Russell’s new chapter at AluK.

Independent hardware distributor Carl F Groupco, has just announced a £20,000 investment in upgraded customer relationship management software, ‘theCRM’.

Steve Lamb, IT manager at the company, said: “This upgrade reflects our dedication to being at the forefront of technology and using it to assist our teams in providing the best to our customers both in terms of product delivery and customer service.”

A new webshop has been opened by window and door frame sealant tape specialist ISO-Chemie to provide UK customers with rapid and easy access to products, installation information and orders 24/7.

Accessible via an office PC, laptop, tablet or mobile device, the webshop – available via ISO-Chemie’s web portal – enables customers to browse and place online orders and review their purchasing history. Debar Pledges To Prioritise Mental Health At Bradford Headquarters


Bi-fold hardware manufacturer and supplier Debar is pledging a commitment to prioritise mental health within the workplace.

With shocking statistics highlighting that the construction industry witnesses more than three times the national average in suicides1, the Bradford-based firm has pledged to support and prioritise the mental health of its dedicated team.

To tackle this issue head on Debar has joined forces with men’s suicide prevention charity, Andy’s Man Club,


The EPD Explained


The EPD, a declaration made by a supplier that sits on a level playing field so specifiers can make decisions based on the life cycle of similar products and their impact on our planet, is particularly related to carbon emissions. Type III Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are produced based on EN 15804+A2 and then verified in accordance with ISO 14025 by an independent external auditor. Produced in a common format, the declarations are easier to compare across different suppliers. An EPD is valid for a five year period and is recognised across the globe.

The EPD is produced from a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) which looks at a product life cycle through five stages which are:


The Residence Collection Installs 250 R7 Windows At New-Build Development


Windows and door designer, The Residence Collection, has completed a new-build development in Hertfordshire with 250 Residence 7 system windows in the Grained White colourway.

In collaboration with installer, HBD Systems and fabricator Window Tech Trade, 20 homes and two apartment blocks were fitted with the Residence 7 range, which was crafted using the timberweld technique. Most of the windows were designed as double side-hung casements, featuring a floating mullion and astragal bars to complete the homes at the Melbourne Mews site, a Jarvis Homes development.


Shelforce Featured In King Charles III Commemorative Album


Window and door manufacturer Shelforce has been featured in a special 75th birthday commemorative album for King Charles III.

Earlier this year, the Birmingham-based Shelforce was presented with The King’s Award for Enterprise in Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility).

The business is now set to feature in the new book King Charles III: The Leadership and Vision of a Modern Monarch, which will be launched at Claridge’s in central London on His Majesty’s 75th birthday – 14 November.

Designed by local architect Kate Kelly, the dwelling’s connection with nature was a key focus of the client’s brief. The house was specified with many windows and doors to let light flood into the property, reflecting the natural environment and providing the best possible views of the rural landscape.

Cornwall Glass Manufacturing recently hosted a Golf Day for customers at the stunning Ashbury Hotel Golf Resort near Okehampton in Devon, which was spread across three beautiful courses.

Fenestration Industry Businesses Raise Over £7,700 in Three Peaks Challenge


A dedicated team from the fenestration industry, including members from The Residence Collection, and Window Widgets, has tackled the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise vital funds for motor neurone disease.

On 30th September, the 15-strong team from The Residence Collection, Window Widgets, Kubu, Roseview Windows, Avantis, Sussex County Windows, Nozzle and Listers embarked on a gruelling 27-mile hike across Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon.

Completed in 24 hours, the team clocked a combined total of 1,035,776 steps and 43.45km climbed across the three peaks summited.
