FDM Opens UK’s First Practical Fire Door Training Centre

 

The UK’s first practical training centre for the fire door industry opened last week, 8th February 2024 in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Purpose built, the 3,000ft² Training Academy has been launched by Fire Door Maintenance (FDM) to raise safety standards across the industry. Comprising different types of fire doors and components from a range of manufacturers, the facility will provide a dedicated space for hands-on training plus classrooms for theory-based learning.

Accredited by GQA Qualifications, an awarding body for specialist and occupational roles, the Academy will offer a variety of courses.

XL-Size Contracts Push Cumbernauld’s Cube Glass Revenues Skywards And International Partnerships Start To Pay Dividends

 

In one of its strongest trading advances on record, Scottish glass and aluminium specialist Cube Glass reports it has boosted its revenues by ‘well in excess of £1 million’ as well as developing lucrative new international partnerships.

The Cumbernauld-based tech pioneer has pushed its turnover to a record £4.5 million in the year to October 2023, up from £3.25 million the previous year. It now hopes to consolidate future revenues in the region of this level.

Buy To Let Landlords Who Improve The Energy Efficiency Of Their Rental Stock Should Get Tax Relief

 

The Government should allow income tax and/or corporate tax relief for buy to let landlords who improve the energy efficiency of their rental stock, say leading tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg.

Head of Property and a Partner at the firm, Heather Powell, said: “The Government could use the Budget in a month’s time to make this announcement.”

Qualicoat Release Exposure Categories

The recently released Technical Information Sheet No.4 from Qualicoat ‘Recommendations for the Corrosion protection’ now offers specifiers guidance on the recommended pretreatment system to specify for various “Corrosivity categories” according to ISO 18768-1:2022 Table 1 and ISO 9223:2012 Table C.1. Whilst it is still strongly recommended that specifiers continue to seek guidance from a Qualicoat licensed powder coater or powder manufacturer when specifying finishes, the guide offers an insight as to the levels of protection offered when specifying Qualicoat architectural powder coating.

The Residence Collection Updates Bespoke Conservation Area Development Near Wakefield

Unique Teams Up With Leicester City In The Community For Outreach Project
