GGF Hails Groundbreaking Success

 

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) Members’ Week has been hailed a great success by members, guests and staff alike, as the Federation broke new ground to deliver the industry’s first major virtual event.

With almost 450 bookings from across the Membership, the three day event (29 September to 1 October) consisted of 18 guest speakers/panellists speaking at 10 online events covering a range of industry topics that Members found informative and engaging.

Economic Landscape Presentation Gives Food For Thought

 

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) Members’ Week featured a presentation on “The Economic Landscape” by Professor Noble Francis, Economics Director of the Construction Products Association.

The webinar was one of the best attended during Members’ Week and potential scenarios on the economy were presented which undoubtedly gave those viewing some food for thought.

Glazerite Introduces Timberweld® Technology

 

Leading trade fabricator, the Glazerite UK Group Ltd, has welcomed the introduction of Timberweld® technology to its Specials Division. Timberweld® – the patented method of welding corners on uPVC to make an authentic timber butt joint effect – has been in use by Glazerite on its Residence 9 and Residence 7 products since July.

Ian Lloyd, Operations Director for Glazerite, says: “We first looked at Timberweld at the Fit Show in 2019 and we were impressed with the manufacturing efficiencies it would bring to our more handcrafted products, as well as the great aesthetics it replicates on the window. We are now manufacturing both R9 and R7 with a Timberweld sash and a mechanically jointed outerframe, mullion and transom, and we’re really pleased with the results so far.”

Conservatory Outlet Boosts Manufacturing Capability With £500,000 Investment

 

Leading manufacturer of high-quality windows, doors, home extensions and conservatory products, Conservatory Outlet, has pressed the button on a new £500,000 investment drive to increase output and capacity.

One of the highlights at the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) Members’ Week was the virtual Technical Forum, which proved the perfect platform for Members to receive information and ask questions on technical issues.

Ben Wallace, GGF Senior Technical Officer presented an overview of the GGF Technical Department highlighting the scope and depth of the department and the issues they cover.

Mark Barsby from the BSI Group was guest speaker and delivered an insightful presentation on “Product Substitutions and Standardisation”.

Home Improvements Underpinning Construction Recovery, Says FMB

 

Last week’s ONS construction output data showing the increase in private repair and maintenance work by 35.6% in the three months to August has been a welcome boost for British builders but uncertainty remains for the wider construction industry, says the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).
