FIT Show Makes Triumphant Return

FIT Show, the UK’s only dedicated trade show for the window, door, glass, hardware and components industry, has made a triumphant return with its delayed 2021 event taking place last week (Birmingham NEC, May 10 – 12, 2022).

Organisers reported record visitor pre-registration numbers, with over ten percent of these being made on the day before the show opened. The atmosphere within the halls at the NEC reflected the appetite that the industry had to get back to face-to-face business, and to support its trade show.

FIT Show was due to take place in 2021 but was delayed three times due to the impact of the global pandemic. Reopening this May without restrictions,

Community Spirit At FIT Show 2022

Business Pilot has reported a successful FIT Show 2022, with contracts signed on the stand during the three-day event at the NEC in May far exceeding expectations, driven in part by the firm’s biggest-ever giveaway: a show-exclusive three months’ unlimited use, for unlimited users, for just £1 a month.

The business management tool provider’s stand was a hive of activity, with a Partner Zone handed over to partner companies and organisations; representatives from Fensa, Certass, Tommy Trinder, Windowlink, Everglade, Listers and Window Ware were on hand to discuss their own offering and the benefits of working with Business Pilot and with each other.

Ultraframe Gets A ‘Thumbs-Hup!’ At The FIT Show

The Ultraframe team has proclaimed how fantastic it was for the industry to finally meet up again at the FIT Show, where the company launched its revolutionary new hup! building system to huge accolade.

Ultraframe says the hup! system, which was seen for the first time at the show, offers a better way to build home extensions and conservatories, with a fast to build, highly energy efficient wall solution that can be used with any Ultraframe roof. This flexibility means that installers or builders can create every possible style of home extension, orangery, or conservatory, quickly and easily. In fact, hup! extensions can be built five times faster than ones using traditional build methods, reports Ultraframe.

AdminBase, the installer management system, is celebrating the successful launch of multiple new features to its integrated solution at the FIT Show.

Rhonda Ridge, author of AdminBase, says: “In addition to showing prospects the breadth of the existing AdminBase system with its award-winning customer portal, MyAdminBase Diary App, and customisable home screen, to name just a few features, visitors to our stand were also excited to see our newly released additions. “AdminBase was established 25 years ago, and we have remained the installer management system of choice because we are constantly reviewing and upgrading our solution as installers’ needs change.

Solar Calibre Doors Fitter Than Ever After FIT Show 2022

“A great job, well done by all” was the verdict from Solar Calibre Doors managing director, Gareth Jones, on FIT Show 2022. This is the first time the recently formed business attended FIT Show, a decision that the company says has reaped dividends.

“Our appearance has helped boost recognition of our emerging Solar Calibre brand, as well as showcasing our extensive range of door solutions.  It was really good to be able to meet face to face with many of the customers whom we’ve welcomed on board since our new business launched in May 2020,” said Gareth.

“We all enjoyed being back at a live event on this scale and meeting up with people again, some for the first time in over two years and were delighted, but not surprised, by the high visitor numbers.

Warning As Three Quarters Of Fire Doors Fail Inspections

One of the UK’s leading fire door inspection organisations has warned of a “tragedy waiting to happen” after it revealed three quarters of the fire doors inspected in the UK by its approved inspectors did not meet the required standard.

The Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS)’s data, based on more than 100,000 fire door inspections carried out by its approved inspectors in 2021, found that 75% of fire doors failed to meet the required standards, putting lives at risk in the event of a fire.

Alarmingly, buildings that had the highest number of fire door inspection failures included healthcare buildings, local authorities and housing associations, and private housing.

Product And Service

An open letter by Mark Haley, Managing Director, HWL Windows

The window and door industry never fails to surprise me. I see stuff and have conversations with suppliers and customers every day that you wouldn’t think would happen – but they do.

So, with that in mind, I find myself half expecting to be surprised again this year by what comes next.

As unlikely as it seemed at its start, we saw a global pandemic drive exponential growth in consumer demand for two-years. So, what war, inflation and an energy crisis will do to window and door sales now is not a foregone conclusion – some sort of a slowdown, is, however likely.

MD Joinery Celebrates Thirty-Year Rehau Partnership

MD Joinery marked its 30th anniversary with systems company Rehau in 2021.

Based in Southport, the family-run business prides itself in being one of the first UK companies to fabricate windows and doors using Rehau’s Total70 window system, which was formerly known as the S706 window.

Husband-and-wife team Mike and Diane Durkin first partnered with Rehau in 1991 when searching for a window system that would replace their existing solutions like-for-like.

“Back when we first established MD Joinery, we were exploring options for an adaptable profile that could seamlessly retrofit an existing window solution,” Mike explains.

Energy Efficiency. Front And Centre.

An open letter by Rob McGlennon, Managing Director, Deceuninck

So, according to Business Pilot, retail saw a slowdown in April, with fewer sales and fewer leads. This was attributed to economic uncertainty and the cost-of-living crisis, something driven by hikes seen in energy prices in April.

That analysis is pretty much on the money. The bubble was going to burst at some point, and things were going to slowdown. Inflation – forecast to hit 10% by the end of this year – plus rising interest rates was always going to take some of the heat out of what was an over-heated market.

To be part of GQA’s exciting journey from its initial offering of seven qualifications to its current range of over 120 is simply brilliant. It’s very gratifying to see these qualifications now being delivered by over 100 GQA centres. Down the years I’ve been fortunate enough to have been part of some very strong boards that have worked with great synergy to support the excellent CEO and his team.
