GGF & Fensa Glass Recycling Scheme Gets Even Bigger


Following the launch of its pilot glass recycling scheme in March, the GGF and Fensa has announced an extension to the programme that will see companies in a significant area of the North of England and the Midlands, now able to take advantage of the resource.

“As with all of our recycling schemes, we spend a lot of time making sure they work as they should, and that we have the capacity to deliver, before rolling them out nationally,” explains Chris Beedel, head of Advocacy & Stakeholder Relations at the GGF. “We can enter the next phase of expanding the glass recycling scheme now because our partners CNC Recycling are adding an operational hub in the North West.


Finalists Announced For G23 Awards


The organisers of the G23 Awards have announced the shortlist for this year’s event.

“After a thorough judging process of the huge number of high-quality entries, the companies and individuals that have been shortlisted this year reflect the innovation in the UK glass & glazing industry. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all on 24 November,” said Tony Higgin, Event Organiser.


Siegenia Secures BBA Certification Once Again


Siegenia’s Titan AF tilt and turn hardware range has once more successfully achieved the respected BBA standard. After originally having gained the certification in 2018, the hardware company was audited in the UK and at their German factory this year before being granted renewal. Their Titan AF range remains the only tilt-before-turn gearing on the UK market that has achieved this certification, doing so for both their face-fix and concealed versions, claims the company.

For over 50 years, BBA has provided product and system certification to demonstrate the specialist formation, capability and uniqueness of products in the construction industry.


Senior Introduces New Paint Finish For Its Aluminium Fenestration Systems


Senior Architectural Systems has invested in its in-house powder coating facility to offer its customers a more practical and cost-effective alternative to anodised aluminium.  Senior can now offer a new ultra matt powder paint coating from Akzo Nobel which offers the same visual appearance as anodised aluminium but with a more consistent finish, superior colour retention and enhanced durability, claims the company.

The new ultra matt finish can achieve the same aesthetic appeal of anodised aluminium but with better consistency, particularly between joints, and the extra advantage of allowing marks and scuffs to be repaired on site.

Sealed unit manufacturers appear to fall in one of two distinct camps, according to Thermoseal Group’s owner and managing director Gwain Paterson: those who are aware of an increase in demand for triple glazing, and are doing something about it; and those who are aware, but choosing to sit still.

“I’ve genuinely had conversations with customers who have stopped me mid-sentence because they don’t want to think about what they need to do to change their operations if the demand for triple glazing goes through the roof,” Gwain says.

Glazpart Shortlisted For Industry Award

Lincolnshire fabricator and installer Tradeglaze has announced the promotion of Jonathan Brewer to head of sales.

The Lincoln Law School graduate who joined the business in 2019 as trade sales representative, Jonathan was voted Lincolnshire’s Rising Star of the Year and is Lincolnshire’s 30 Under 30 award recipient from 2022. Jonathan was also selected as one of ‘30 Under 30’ at last year’s FIT Show.
