Builders’ Merchants’ Sales Momentum Continues

sales through UK builders’ merchants remained strong in April, following record-breaking results in March.

Although total merchants sales in April were -0.9% lower than the previous month, this must be viewed in the context of three fewer trading days in April. Average sales a day in April were +14.0% higher than in March, with all categories selling more.

While there is little value in comparing April 2021 with April 2020 (+419.2%) – when many merchants and construction sites were temporarily closed – total sales in April 2021 were +22.1% higher than in April 2019, pre-Covid, with 11 of the 12 product categories recording higher sales.

R2, from The Residence Collection, is experiencing a surge in demand as both consumers and trade partners look to embrace the ultimate aluminium alternative window and door system, says the company.

R2 is the architectural highlight of The Residence Collection, and like R9, shares the same 100mm platform front to back, 9 chambers and the same external dimensions, but instead of a period inspired outer frame, there’s one that’s distinctly square. Other window frames typically offer 3 or 5 chambers and are usually 70mm systems looking almost identical inside. R2 is said to offer bold design differences, with superior thermal, acoustic, strength and security performances.
