The Residence Collection has launched three heat loss maps revealing the warmth that escapes homes depending on the window glazing.

These maps according to the company, show that much of a home’s heat loss, 18% in fact², is through in-effective windows and doors, showing installers the downfalls of fitting single glazed windows and demonstrating the positive effects the Future Homes Standard 2025 requirements will have on the fenestration industry, claims the company.

Coastal Group is celebrating 20 successful years of manufacturing and supplying door and window hardware throughout the UK and beyond.  Company founder Anthony Jenner marks the milestone and looks back at how it all started.

“I left school with no qualifications, starting my working life as a carpenter and joiner,” explains Anthony. “I used to jump on the tube every day to the Ritz and Carnarvon Hotels in London, doing joinery and general maintenance. I loved the work and soon trained in plumbing and heating engineering which meant I could offer a more comprehensive service.”


Framexpress Report Most Successful Year In Its History


On top of celebrating a quarter of a century in business in 2023, Framexpress has also reported the year as its most successful on record.  At the start of 2023, the Telford-based fabricator set out ambitious targets to increase revenue by 10%.

In addition to a £300,000 investment into new machinery; an ever-expanding workforce; multiple new customers; an additional 15,000 ft² manufacturing facility space; and the launch of its new Fire Doors By Framexpress range of fire doors, Framexpress reported a 16% uplift in revenue in 2023, compared to the previous year.


Jordan Kingman Returns To AluK As Head Of Architectural Projects


Aluminium systems company AluK has reconfirmed its commitment to the commercial and specification market, with the appointment of Jordan Kingman to a new role as head of architectural projects.

An experienced façade engineer, Jordan was specification manager at AluK from 2011 until 2020. October Builders Merchant Sales Fall -4.0% Year-On-Year


The latest Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI) report shows builders’ merchants’ value sales were down -4.0% in October 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, with volume sales dropping -11.5% and prices rising +8.4%. With one more trading day in October 2023, like-for-like sales were -8.4% lower.

Eight of the twelve categories sold more in October 2023 compared to the previous year, with Miscellaneous (+16.5%) topping the list. Decorating (+10.8%), Workwear & Safetywear (+10.4%), Ironmongery (+7.0%) and Kitchens & Bathrooms (+4.7%) also did better than the merchants overall.

CDW Systems says it has continued to improve service to customers thanks to the strengthening of its office-based team at its headquarters in Gloucester.

The specialist aluminium fabricator’s two most recent appointments include Natalie O’Grady and Shiloh Thomas. Natalie is the company’s purchaser, while Shiloh is a trainee estimator/processor within the sales team.

Another recent recruit is Thomas Dwight, who works as an estimator/processor in the sales team and previously worked for CDW Systems before rejoining.
