Recent decades have seen the rise of the ‘one stop shop’ fabricator who tries to do it all. But with the continuing disruption caused by COVID, is this approach still feasible? Andy Jones, Group Managing Director of Victorian Sliders, gives his view.

Even when everyone in Britain has been vaccinated, and the worst of the coronavirus crisis is behind us, I suspect we’ll still find that some things have changed for good.

Personally, I wonder whether full-time office working will become a thing of the past, whether we’ll see far fewer face-to-face meetings in situations where Teams or Zoom calls would work equally well – and whether, in our industry, we’re seeing the beginning of the end of the era of the ‘one-stop-shop’ fabricator.

Sternfenster Invests In Precision Aluminium Crimping Technology

 

Sternfenster has invested in state-of-the-art aluminium crimping technology, bringing new levels precision to its aluminium product lines.

Its new 4-head Ever Theta frame crimping machine from FOM, brings exceptional accuracy to manufacture using profile scanning technology.

This includes flagging out of tolerance profiles of as little as 0.4mm out in length or 0.9mm on the diagonal, bringing a very high degree of accuracy to 45° mitre and 90° joints.

REHAU Mourns The Loss Of Company Founder Helmut Wagner.

REHAU is mourning the loss of company founder and honorary president Helmut Wagner. He sadly passed away last Sunday at the age of 95 in Switzerland surrounded by his family. The news of the death of the popular founding father, who was highly committed to the end, has moved REHAU employees around the globe.

“The great sympathy for the passing of our father comes from many regions of the world. We are very touched by this as a family,” says Jobst Wagner, President of the Supervisory Board. It shows how great the legacy will be that Helmut Wagner has left behind “as one of the pioneers of modern industry, as a courageous creator and unwavering visionary”, says Wagner.

With insulbar RE-LI, Ensinger is presenting its greenest insulating bar for thermal breaks in aluminium systems for windows, doors and façades. Thanks to the use of unmixed, recycled polyamide, 92 percent fewer fossil fuels are used during manufacture compared with a conventional bar, the CO2 emissions drop by 91 percent, and water consumption drops by 78 percent*.

“In addition, foaming of the recycled polyamide improves the insulating effect of the glass fibre reinforced material. Rapid Growth Sees Expansion At Norwich-Based Glazing Firm

 

Rapid growth at Norwich-based glazing manufacturer, Norwich Aluminium Limited, has seen the company move to new 80% larger premises and employ five new staff as it continues to fly the flag for UK manufacturing in construction.
