GGF Gets Government Confirmation On Showrooms Re-Opening

 

In the last few weeks the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has received numerous queries regarding whether or not Showrooms can be re-opened following the Government’s Guidance on working in people’s homes was released on 11th May.

The GGF has contacted the Director of Construction at the Government department of Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to ask if Showrooms could re-open.

Government Should Top-Up Statutory Sick Pay For Returning Employees

 

Employees that travel abroad to visit relatives and who have to quarantine on their return should be given statutory sick pay, say leading tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg.

Genevieve Morris, a partner at the firm said: “As lock down is eased many people will now think of travelling abroad to see relatives particularly those that may have been sick.”

GGF Calls For Greater Flexibility Of Job Retention Scheme

 

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer asking that the Job Retention Scheme be made more flexible to help companies who may only require furloughed workers to return on a part-time basis.

John Agnew, GGF Managing Director commented, “Following discussions with GGF Members, we have contacted the Chancellor to ask if the Job Retention Scheme can be more flexible and allow companies to re-employ furloughed employees on a part-time basis until work picks up and there is enough for full time employment.
