No Deal Brexit A Danger To Jobs, Growth And The Economy

Responding to the release of the Department for Exiting the European Union (DEXEU) assessment of the economic impact of Brexit, Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) National Chairman Mike Cherry, said: “These figures paint a stark picture of the impact a no deal Brexit will have on the economy and suggest what many have been warning about.

“Put simply, a chaotic no deal Brexit will damage jobs, cut growth and hurt the economy. This cliff edge will disproportionately be felt by our smaller businesses that do not have the same capacity or resources as big businesses to make adequate contingency plans to soften the impact of this scenario or to deal with the costs of suddenly trading on the basis of WTO rules from April 2019 and having to complete customs declarations.

UK Training Provider Of Window, Door And Conservatory Products Launched

There has been limited industry-recognised training providers for window, door and conservatory products. All that has changed with the launch of Pro-Fitter.

The initiative is the brainchild of Pro-Fitter’s Director, Lou Leka, who says: “Many certifications exist in our industry but none offer bespoke training that allow people to learn in a controlled environment and have their competency levels assessed. We are not another Competent Person Scheme. We are not a Vocational College. We teach hands on skills and ability and provide the lessons to give the ability and confidence to carry out specific work.”

Demand Grows For Greenteq Innovative Folding Handles

Innovative SecuriFold and CentreFold folding handles from VBH’s greenteQ Clearline range are growing in popularity among aluminium and PVC-U fabricators due to their unique design. Both products fold down vertically when not in use– a neat feature that is proving appealing for aspirational-style home improvements.

SecuriFold has been developed with bi-fold and slide and fold doors in mind. When stacking these types of doors in the open position, sashes don’t fold back neatly due to the projection of the door handle. In contrast, SecuriFold folds snugly against the backplate.

Lumi Pod Pays Its Way – With Much More Than A Sale

It was great news when a display Pod showcasing Apeer’s Lumi window and door system landed its first major order within a few weeks of going into a showroom – but the sale was just one of the benefits it was bringing, as the owners explained.

“It immediately became the conversation piece of the whole showroom,” said Elizabeth Brighouse of retail installer Trade Windows Derby. “Lots of people just look at it and say ‘wow’.

The company has also made Lumi the main feature of its ongoing advertising in local lifestyle magazines, she added: “People come in saying they’ve seen the adverts then they see it for themselves in the Pod, so they work very well together.”
